I love gingery soft drinks, but I never had a beer that featured ginger. I went for this one thinking it could be great and was really disappointed.
This pint was amber, with a foamy head that I think was produced by nitro-tap. The smell was all ginger. The beer gets it's point across bluntly. In the smell and the taste department, there is no indication that I was drinking a beer. I liken it to drinking floor cleaner. If the beer had some residual malt sweetness for the ginger to play off of, it might soften the harshness of the spice (I guess this is why the softdrinks appeal to me) but this beer is dry and flavorless, except for the ginger, which is overwhelming.
The mouthfeel of this beer seems to thick; I think it is the nitrotap. I got that in the ESB at Fitgers too. It coats my mouth in a way that I find undesirable.
I didn't finsh this one.

A - Poured a deep burgandy color with a soapy, bubbly, off-white head. It left some nice lace.
S - It smelled of alot of ginger and some floral notes.
T - Ginger dominated the flavor. There was some hops and malt, but mostly it was ginger.
M - It was crisp and sharp. A light to medium-bodied beer.
D - There was just too much ginger for me. Otherwise, it wasn't too bad.
