Upon my visit to Fitger's I first ordered this beer.
It's appearance was okay with a soft foamy white head and a golden clear pour. The nose was a fruity sweet strong banana. The taste was a bitter strong hops bite that lasted for the rest of the night. I as so impressed I drove a growler through 100 degree heat to continue enjoying a world class IPA. If you visit Duluth and love strong IPA's you simply must try the Mayor. It is my favorite IPA to this day and I've drank a lot of them.
I had it on my anniversary at on August 8th.

A-Golden colored...nice lacing on glass...perfect carbonation and does not have excessive head...
S-Really special....very tropical...more sweeter than a biting hop aroma....
T-Again very tropical and fruity with a lot of juicy flavors....malt backing seems sweeter and fits nicely....sugar cookie like...
M-High side of medium bodied...this beer drinks as a juicy flavorful hop bomb but a bit of a hop bite enters on the long finish which really caps this off. Just dry enough to keep you wanting more.
O-This is the best IPA I have had from Fitger's. It borders on DIPA territory. It is loaded with flavor and hop juiciness...reminds me of Abrasive in a lot of ways...a tick lower in ABV and in weight overall but along those lines. An IPA/DIPA hybrid that carries a ton of hop flavor. Not sure what hops were used or how they were used but this is a great example of a flavor loaded IPA WITHOUT any of the catty onion/garlic notes that are getting more and more prevalent in IPA's/DIPA's these days.
