On tap at The Pint in West Lafayette.

Pours, like nearly all Berliners, pale and yellow with a small white cap. Smells zippy and tart, not particularly intense for the style but nonetheless well balanced and enticing.

Tastes like candy cherry flavoring up front--heavy brett--and that moves quickly into a thin back end marked by Upland's trademark dry yeast profile. The effect seemed pretty "meh" at first. But then a few sips in, it's like the beer transformed. The back end got heavy and then chewy, the tartness became more natural-seeming, and the last few sips it was like I was drinking a Fruit Rollup. Bizarre, yes, and also delicious.

This is one of the most quaffable Berliners I've ever had. New Glarus is probably my favorite, flavor-wise, but I can never drink more than one or two of them for fear of crippling dyspepsia. Wolf Eyes somehow, almost magically, gets smoother and more drinkable as the beer goes on, which is a major plus.

Thanks Howard for sharing!

Pale gold with a slight haze, thin layer of white foam on the surface.
Flecks of spotty lace here and there.

Wheaty nose, slight apple tartness and vague sulfur.

Clean and simple, light grainy wheat and a light lactic tartness. Light bodied with an effervescent, scrubbing carbonation. A very utilitarian version, not as tart and more wheaty. Overall a good palate cleanser from the Kriek-off we held that same night.
