Oak & Red pours a luscious copper color with red highlights. Jammy grape aromas permeate, with hints of charred oak and petite sourness. Upon sipping, the drinker experiences full red grape flavors, balanced by tartness and complexity from blended beer selection. Finish is mildly sweet, with lingering Catawba juiciness.

Had Oak & Red poured from 16.9-oz. bottle, label stamped Batch No. "U-9" and bottle date "AUG-19," into Rastal Harmony oversized red wine glass.
Pours deep amber-orange with clarity and 1/2-finger, fizzing, bubbly near-white head which dissipates immediately, leaving no lace. Aroma of meaty fruit pith off pour, and then sharp citrus, with floral and fruity grape aromas following, balanced with some grassy, spicy hop aromas. Begins with a bit of sharp bite over sweet fruit, then nicely biting sour red grapes, which lead into full-bodied citrusy fruit punch, over mild cracker malt, before a crisp finish.
So many good things happening in this not-overwhelmingly sour beer, that you won't (at first) notice or heed the huge (for a fruited sour) 9.10 ABV.

13 oz snifter pour at Lures Bar & Grille. Pours dark red/brown with a moderate off-white head. Aroma and flavor feature oak, tart plums, sweet raisins, and dark fruit with some funk, leather, and red wine tannins. Fairly complex but too sweet for my taste, otherwise it would rate much higher.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 5/2018. Pours slightly hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense off white head with poor retention, that reduces to a nothing pretty quickly. Minimal lacing on the glass, some clinging bubbles and streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge sour/tart/tangy red grapes, fruit skin, plum, currant, lemon, lime, orange, cherry, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, red/green apple, melon, red/white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, bread, and brown sugar; with light notes of oaken vanilla, peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, grapes, oak barrels, and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge sour/tart/tangy red grapes, fruit skin, plum, currant, lemon, lime, orange, cherry, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, red/green apple, melon, red/white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, bread, and brown sugar; with light notes of oaken vanilla, peppercorn, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and light yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour red grapes, fruit skin, plum, currant, lemon, lime, orange, cherry, raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, red/green apple, melon, red/white wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, bread, brown sugar, vanilla, pepper, light funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness in the finish for a good bit. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, grapes, oak barrels, and moderate bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness and tangy fruit balance; with minimal puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness and tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, acidic/tangy/tannic, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.8%. Overall this is a fantastic fruited sour/wild ale! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, grapes, oak barrels, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink for the ABV with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish, not overly lactic. Outstanding balance of jammy fruit and Brett/Bacteria complexity; great oak presence and malt backbone against acidity. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example as expected. One of the best ones yet.

Enjoyed this on draft at savages ale house. The glassware was a Upland tulip. The beer was a maroon color with pink highlights as well as a thin sea foam pink crown. The smell brought floral and the taste brought that floral with the addition of being tart and finishing really smooth. Overall, this was another well balanced and enjoyable sour from Upland.
