Campside has developed a loyal following with its showcase of the most interesting and effervescent American hops. Beginning in 2018, Campside will transition from a Session IPA to an American Pale Ale and will be available year round. All of the fragrant citrus and tropical character of late additions of Cascade, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops will remain, supported by a moderate malt backbone and defined by balanced drinkability. Late additions of hops allow the distinct fragrance of grapefruit, apricot and pine to be preserved as much as possible in the finished beer. With a crisp, but subtle bitterness, a balanced malt character, and a 5.4% ABV, this is the perfect year round beverage for those who think flavor is just as important as refreshment.

I tried a pint of this off the tapper at Elm Street Brewing in Muncie, Indiana as a guest tap. It poured a slightly hazy golden with white head that did not leave any lace. The scent had subtle grain notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with biscuit flare. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was an good beer.

12oz can BB:081221 poured into a tulip pint glass at fridge temp 5.4% ABV. The beer pours mostly bright light golden amber with off white head. The head recedes to a thin cap and leaves a little lacing. The aroma is mild with pine and sweet orange & grapefruit. The taste is semisweet citrus zest over a light malt body. Lesser notes of pine and moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, very good. Not overly sticky sweet or caramel based like many pale ales.

APPEARANCE: Pale golden, with huge white head and pleasant line of lace.
AROMA: Delicious citrus and tropical hops.
TASTE: Zesty citrus and tropical juicy hops here, alongside just enough malt to rein it back it back in. Very enjoyable.

Pale hazy gold with one finger head. Smells of light citrus, pine, pineapple, beery malt. Mostly pine in flavor. Fairly sweet yet reasonably bitter. Pleasant.

BB July 2019
L: Light honey, flat head or mild pour. Very mild lacing.
S: Pine, light tropical, honey. Mild sweetness.
T: Balanced well between malts and hops. Some fruit, again.. well balanced. A touch of lemon.
F: Malt in front, with piney bitterness the rest of the way. Light, but not watery. Good bit of carbonation, but well done.
O: The bitterness is a great compliment to the malt. Nicely done PA. Nothing flashy, but steady all the way through.
