No one does sour quite like Upland. Their take on Belgian-style kriek brings that level of European maturity to Indiana with an acidity that will make the face stick that way.
Subtle blush, nearly bright with clarity and bubbly with champagne brightness, Cherry Lambic takes its eleven years of maturity onto the nose with a shocking red cherry scent laced with citrus, cider, wine and a perfumy collection of funk and fauna. A shocking level of sourness strikes the palate with force, washing the tastebuds with lime, lemon, crabapple, grapefruit, gooseberry, white grape and lactic acid. Finishing vinous and bracingly sour, the late taste shares a brief aftertaste of weathered woods, leather and sour cherry.
Light, crisp and refreshing, the beer isn't quite as refined and mature as many more authentic lambic, but this beer finds favor with those who can't get enough of the sour.
