The fifth beer tasted by half-pint at the Catford Beerfest., 08/06/06. Gravity-dispensed.
A: bright reddish brown, a fluffy thin head stays for a short while, very low carbonated.
S: quite fruity (dark fruits, like longan-fruit), as well as roast-nutty; a moderate roast maltiness in the background has a floral tinge to it. Pleasant, not too complex.
T: slightly smokey/roasted maltiness upfront, becoming dryish-bitter and bitter-sweet, like Chinese herbal jelly, towards a tongue-plucking, ever-lasting bitter finish like after eating only the nut-skins of roast-nuts... Again, not complex, but utterly enjoyable for the beautiful bitter aftertone.
M&D: medium-bodied, very smooth on the mouthfeel, even a bit lubricating... that's some compliment for a 3.4% mild, I suppose... A quaffable good mild from the Naylor's.
