A 500ml bottle with a BB of Sept 2011. The label mentions that it uses cascade and perle hops in addition to barley and wheat.

Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. A clear orange-amber hue with good carbonation and the faintest traces of visible sediment. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that remains for a couple of minutes before subsiding. The aroma is unusual - the dominant character is a dry, herbal note that reminds me of chamomile tea. There is a hint of underlying malt.

Tastes of pale malt with a distinct herbal note and a mild dry bitterness. Notes of herbs (especially chamomile) and grain along with hints of stewed leaves in the background. The herbal character is warm and rounded but rather dominant. Mouthfeel is smooth, with decent body and slight astringency. Faint bitter herbal aftertaste.

An OK ale with good balance, but the flavour profile was unexpected. It's distinctly herbal, with none of the 'classic' aromatic hop notes that might be expected (and have been present in other beers from this brewery). I'm not sure if this is the intended flavour or the result of something going wrong somewhere in the production process, although the description makes no mention of extra herbal ingredients. Perhaps the hop varieties used can achieve this type of flavour under certain circumstances. Anyway, it's different but drinkable.
