Visited in May, 2006. Until recently, I lost track of my review of this place, but it's based on a very nice lunch with my family.
Located in an old small-town casino (the Lucky Spur, probably a very hopping place in the 50's and 60's, but closed for at least 10 years now) in downtown Carson City (almost directly across the street from the State Capital building), this place has been cleaned out, and opened up to almost feel like a High School Gym (wood floors, actual basketball hoop with Free Throw line), it's unique for a brewpub. The wrap-around bar up front shows the brewing room behind glass, lots of spacious eating area behind.
6 pretty standard but decent "brewpub beers" brewed on site- the Clear Creek Crystal Wheat (5.7%), Battle Born Blonde Ale (6.3%), V&T Honey Ale (5.2%), Palemeno Pale Ale (5.7%), Long Valley Amber Ale (4.9%), and Prospector Robust Porter (6.3%). I got the sampler, and enjoyed the pale ale and the porter, the others were pretty average. Not trying to go out on a limb with complex or unique styles- catering to those that want something other than the typical macros, but haven't transitioned into full beer advocates! Also, there is a full bar available for non-beer drinkers.
Food was pretty good- soups and salads and sandwiches- lots of burger choices, and a ton of add-on options. If you are a burger buff, this is a good place to land.
Overall, it's the best brewery in town. Of course, it's the only brewery in town. It's decent enough; I had hoped to return on my recent visit to town, but wasn't terribly upset when I didn't make it.
