L- Quite deep brown with a red tinge. Sediment stirred up really easily despite bottle being rested for 2-3+ weeks, poured + handled with care. Hence it's quite cloudy, with much more sediment left in the bottle. Has a mid-tan 2Cm pillowy head on top, holding well. Late ps. = really well.
S- Quite pungent, a sense of richness and specific yeasty notes.
T- Dryer than expected, toasty, deep roasted notes, then into a richer note but simultaneously the notable ABV% 'zing' kicks in. Nice.
F- Well balanced, rich+hoppy dryness+a very robust 'meaty' body all align into a good slow-sipping beer for me.
O- I like it. I was worried as I've recently had a couple of Belgian Dark Ales/Strong Dark Ales and they have been seriously sweet, and I mean sweet (like some really cheap adjunct beers) rather than rich. It happened with a Corsendonk beer in this style last night, and they are a serious/historied brewery. I don't get it. I had resolved to test the last dozen or so beers I have of this style, all different and new to me, but then never buy this style again (they're$$$ as imports to England too); but now I'm not so sure.
Either way this ONE I enjoyed.
330ml bottle: BBE: June-2021 Bought from BeersOfEurope (UK).

(RateBeer rated as dubbel) Decent dubbel, brewed in honor of the Belgian arist /cartoonist Herve. Nothing exceptional, but pretty good all around. Pours dark brown with small beige, slick head.Aroma is burnt toast, molasses and dried fruit. taste is roast grains, with very dry finish. A novelty beer, but not too bad.

A: dark brown with long-lasting tan head. Nice lacing.

S: caramel, figs, candy syrup flavors.

T: rich, mellow taste with dates, figs. A bit sweet, but in no way too much. Alcohol flavors present, as are very mild hops, but neither take the place of the warm, malty flavors.

M: wonderfully creamy mouthfeel. Plenty of very fine carbonation.

O: Not a winter beer, nor summer, but in between. Very drinkable and enjoyable. A great dark ale with a funny lable.

33cl into a tulip. Pours a crystal clear rich garnet, gorgeous with strong back light, minor light tan head fairly short lived, ok lacing.

Aroma is clean and bright. Sassafras along with quiet vanilla sit beneath a strong phenolic note. very nice

Taste includes a mild tang. Low sweetness, tiny dry, zero bitter. Relatively bland unfortunately. Aftertaste is thankfully short lived as it's not a strength. Thin lively mouthfeel.
cheers

75cl bottle picked up at my favorite bottle shop in Arlon, Belgium.

The beer poured a deep caramel, sort of brown color with a thick tan head. Froathy. The nose is a bit sweet, some fruit tones in there and also caramel. The taste is more of the same but not overly sweet with some yeast notes and citrus. Overall a nice beer, easy to drink.

Bottle-conditioned, coming in short, 330ml brown Belgian beer bottle. BB July 09, served chilled in a Westmalle's broad-rimmed goblet.

A: don't know why, but the beer almost storms out as soon as the cap was half-opened, ending in the glass a dark reddish brown colour with a dark beige frothy head with good retention, light in carbonation.
S: sour yeasty (due to the disturbance of the yeast sediments), even slightly vinegary and prune-ish... a light bed of roasted malts stays behind, along with a tinge of lightly-burned Chinese red beans (from the yeastiness apparently) lingering in the remote corner. Too sour for the balance.
T: the foretaste is mildly roasty (Munich malts), but soon overtaken by a sour yeasty flavour, cherry- or berry-ish fruits, and caramelised sugar; finished rather clean, bearing a light touch of herbal but bitter hops as well as residual whole-meal bready malts. Lingering finish, never heavy or alcoholic.
M&D: lightly fizzy in terms of carbonation, but always within tolerable limits. The major disappointment is the yeasty intervention, which forces its way through every potential goodie that this ale could've shown. It's worth trying again, since "Brice" (the pale one) is so clean, integrated, and charming. Hopefully the next bottle will be better!

Very dark, with some mahogany nuances. Beige head, not too long.
Fruity smell, with sour cherry, melon, peaches. Red and yellow fruit, and also berry fruit. And then yeast and a light vanilla.
The smell is a little better, but also the taste it is not so bad. Some more yeast, marzipan, caramel, and candy sugar.
In the aftertaste, dry fruit, melon, vanilla, peach. A very light bitterness in the back, and candy sugar.
Quite light in body.

BB feb 06. Yellowish head and dark brown beer that's quiet cleer but has some quiet big particles in it. Nose is peppery and very caramellic, some candynote overal good and full brew. Taste also being very caramel malty without any note of roast. Futher this one is very smooth, litle sweet but well dosed. Yes this is very enjoyable not notecing this one has 7% ABV at all. Very snooth mouthfeel and yes this one realy is one to taste, delicate and IMO very enjoyable.
