At the TH Tap into a shaker (which surprised me because I recalled them serving TH beers in nonics?), pours a bright even brilliant tangerine orange and a 1/2 finger tight head with a decent retention and lacing. Smells very promising...tangerine peel and grapefruit pith, a little dank earthy green hoppiness, and some faint spice as well. When it hits the tongue, it isn't quite as satisfying as the nose promised. More piney and bitter, and really little to no juicy sweetness from the citrus, when it would have been nice to have a few more hints of that for balance. I don't get the spice notes either really. Still, the bitter citrus isn't overwhelming and it is moderately interesting. Moderate carbonation, moderate body, a little tart, wet and then quite dry on the finish...very quaffable.

Pours darker than expected. A bit more copper/amber in appearance. Certainly not bad looking.

Aroma and taste are definately not quite what I was expecting for a name like Big Citrus. To me the hops are mostly spicy and earthy followed by very understated citrus notes. Bready malts compliment.

Medium mouthfeel.

The hop bill/ name on this had me expecting more than the final product.

Pint pour at the Town Hall Tap.

Look was orange and mostly clear, small head. Smell was dank and sour, not very strong, but good. Taste isn't soapy and catpissy like citra hops usually are, but is a more tart, clean citrus. Feel is similarly clean and crisp, drinks light.

Really good, I want more.

White head. Color is a copper gold.

Flavors are mainly hops and citrus. Very juicy. Grapefruit, orange, lemon, and pineapple. Sticky, piney hops. Some bready malts. Has a sprite like flavor to it.

Mouthfeel: fairly sticky. Medium bodied. Lots of carbonation. Too much.

Overall, not as enjoyable I as was expecting. Still good, just not big citrus good.

Edit: 2016 batch is all the big citrus I want! Such a different beer!

An IPA dry hopped with citra? Sign me up. Nice bright light copper color served with a thin finger of pure white head. The smell is my favorite part of this beer...I'm just a sucker for that citra aroma-tropical fruit (mango) with just a hint of that dank slightly catty stank. This follows through into the taste but you also get the base hops here with some pine resin, and a fair amount of bitterness into the finish. Base malt is clean but subdued. Plenty of carbonation and a decently long finish. Juicy. Overall, love the citra aroma the bitter bite is not my favorite but still a really nice beer that I'd be glad to come back to.

On tap at the brewpub. Served in a standard shaker glass.

Appearance: Color is a bright golden amber orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and about one finger of off white head that fades into a thin patchy layer. Leaves a decent amount of lacing.

Smell: As the name implies, a big aroma of ripe citrus fruits backed by some caramel malt. Upfront citrus hop hints of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, tangerine, apricot, pineapple, lemon, and passion fruit. Earthy hops hints along with some spicy pine resin. Pale malt in the background with hints of sweet caramel, grains, biscuit, cracker, and yeast. Very forward with the citrus. A pretty nice aroma.

Taste: As good and juicy as it smells, big taste of ripe and bitter citrus hops along with earthy notes and backing malt. Huge juicy taste of citrus hops upfront with notes of grapefruit, mango, orange peel, apricot, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, and passion fruit. Earthy and floral hop notes along with some pine resin spice. Backing presence of pale malt with notes of biscuit, grains, sweet caramel, cracker, and yeast. Very hop forward and nicely bitter and dry.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very juicy and slightly chewy with a nice smooth dryness.

Overall: A very good hoppy ale. Great citrus esters with a nice clean bitterness.
