Had on tap. Clear golden body with a finger of eggshell white foam, sudsy lacing. Smell takes you to a flower field with honey, and sweet malts with a spring yeast supporting. Taste adds a sweeter estery citrus, honey now honeycomb, yeast while still springy, now has some biscuit. Feel is a little overcarbonated for me though, cutting the estery accented malt and yeast smoothness. Still a lovely maibock for late spring

On tap.
White head. Copper brown color. Clear.
This is a nice mix between a heavy bock and a helles beer. Earthy and grassy hops with a caramel and biscuit malt base. Done to style. Very enjoyable.

really sweet for the style, i like my bock beers, especially the spring ones, to be quite a bit drier than this. too bad too, because the other flavors are outstanding. always have known these guys more for their english styles than their german ones. bright golden in color, yellow even, extremely clear and light, with a full inch of expansive bone white head. it smells and tastes like sweet pils and special german malts, cerealy, but honey sweet, a little floral, and less like lager yeast than i thought it would. there is a bready pils grain aspect to this that really stands out, and there is a sort of clover honey blooming springtime vibe that i love, but there is too much sweetness in it for the style, and with the alcohol just a little exposed, it makes it hard to drink even a whole pint of this for me. its a little light in body for the depth of flavor as well. interesting that the bartender here was so high on this one, i thought it was my least favorite of the four or five beers i had here at the brewery. less classically german, some nice wrinkles, but not as well put together as most of their others.
