Pours a cloudy light rusty brown with an off white head and lacing. Smell is dark and white fruits with wood oak bourbon and vanilla. Taste is superb white and dark fruits from apple to raisin are kissed by mellow bourbon with vanilla and spice . Mouth feel is sweet and mild with fruited bourbon a delight to drink.

great idea, not enough of this out there, the american twist of bourbon barrel ageing applied to a classic belgian style. this is a paler looking quad, not much past amber in color, patchy tan head on top, some lace as it sits and settles. i think its neat its the angels envy, the one i am thinking of is bourbon finished in a port cask, and this shows some of that fortified red wine tannic and fruity flavors, dark cherry, golden raisin, prune, its all there. i know they do a rum finished one too, but this doesnt taste like that as much as it does the port. tons of the bourbon too though, almost enough that it covers up the base beer a bit, i think the milder quad is nice though, especially here in summer time. red wine flavors abound, vanilla and oak, cherry again, even dried cranberry, there is just a hint of tartness in this, belgian yeast, poached pears, honey, awesome. surprisingly not very sweet, and equally surprising not very boozy. its strong, but you cant taste it at all. just enough carbonation to work as a belgian, but a pretty pillowy soft feel to this. great idea, great execution, i bet those angels envy casks are hard to come by. someone confirm if its the port finished? sure tastes like it is...

750ML growler thing bought during Town Hall’s legendary barrel-aged week at the request of my wife. Who am I to deny her what she wants? Split with said wife (not the other one).
I am generally indifferent to the look of a beer because really, who cares? Looks like barnacles tastes like the nectar of Lorien? Five. But this is gorgeous, perfectly clear ruby-red that would look great in a silver pentacle. Nose brings oak (forgive me, Treebeard), vanilla, winter warmer style spices, ground sugar, all sorts of other good stuff too subtle for my crooked nose. Good.
Foolish Angel would certainly befuddle the most high of the angelic host. Wicked alcohol sears & makes me want an apple. The bourbon comes on stronger than a hooker on Peter Russo, bringing with it the stave & the staff. Beneath is Belgian yeast, candied sugar, burnt sugar, pan-seared caramel, warming spices, dark fruits, vanilla. Rich, decadent, & I would drink this until I couldn’t feel my feet.
Bloody fantastic. Town Hall is one of the unheralded masters of the barrel, & this might be their best effort since the glory days of Czar Jack in the days of yore. A beer for the ages: simply glorious.

Foolish Angel.Belgian style Quadrupel aged in both Blanton’s and Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels. 10% ABV.
Foolish Angel, bourbon barrel-aged Belgian
quadrupel, enjoyed at home.
Deep crimson, rich burgundy, slim head, soon gone.
Aroma is all things, all the brandy, the rich dark fruit, the cognac and leather, but also the vanilla and cherry, and most of all, the bourbon. Vast, deep, and inviting.
Taste: Rich and delicious. Big-time everything. Huge in the fruit, full with the malt, wrapped up in bourbon and Belgian-style yum. Grows and grows and grows. Flavors widen, stretch, develop and cover the senses. The sense of the quad underneath is still perceptible, but the bourbon character wraps around it all. Strong, sharp, yet...no, I can't call it smooth. But it drinks down delightfully, if you can handle yourself. It's big, bold, brash and brilliant. And I'm digging on it.

This beer arrives a cloudy amber-brrown color. The head is small, and recedes with the quickness o a barrel-aged beer. The aroma is of dates, anise, and light oak. The taste is similar with a bit less anise, and more sweetness. The muthfeel is full, and chewy. Overall, the is a solid barrel-aged beer. I wouldn't chase it down, but it is worth drining if you see it.

Shrug. Seemed like a pretty meh take on a quad to me. Have the folks giving this 4.5s actually had Rochefort, St Bernardus, Westy?

Poured into a tulip glass from a growler. Pours a nice dark dark brown color with a light off white head.
Aroma is sweet candy and caramel. Notes of raisins and boozy heat are present. Vanilla and oak notes. Belgian style yeast phenols are present as well.
Flavor starts off with heat and barrel notes. Light raisins and some vanilla notes. Mild maple syrup and oak. Lovely decadent brew.

Big fan of a good Belgian quad. Town hall has done some nice Belgian abbey ales over the years so excited to try this beast. What can I say about this beer other than the bourbon aroma flavor and heat are quite overpowering. If I dig deep I can pull out the notes of a quad but it's a bit challenging. A beer more suited for a lover of the brown spirits vs the complexity and smoothness of a great quad. I enjoyed this more as it warmed but this beer makes me looking for more of the base beer as it has some nice spicy phenolics and a hint of esters carried with a nice toasted malt bill.
