750 ml mini growler bought from the brewpub with a enjoy by date of December 28th, 2015. Poured into a Town Hall chalice glass.
Appearance: Pours a deep brownish amber with a moderate amount of bubbles. About a finger of off white head that fades into a thin patch.
Smell: A toasty, sweet, and nutty malt forward aroma with a scent of caramel, biscuit, and nuts. Toasted barley malt with hints of caramel, toffee, chestnuts, chocolate, biscuit, toast, and yeast. Sweet hints of brown sugar. Subtle earthy hops. A very solid toasty aroma.
Taste: Like it smells, a sweet, toasty, and nutty malt driven taste with notes of caramel, nuts, and biscuit. Toasted barley malt with notes of caramel, toffee, chestnuts, biscuit, chocolate, toast, and yeast. Sweet taste of brown sugar. Some earthy hop bitterness towards the finish. A pretty good nutty taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy and very smooth.
Overall: A pretty good take on a Brown Ale. Nice toasty malt flavors with some nice nutty notes.
