On tap at the brewpub. 5 oz. serving as part of a flight.
Appearance: Color is midnight black. About a finger of light tan head. Moderate bubbles.
Smell: A very roasty and fairly sweet dark malt driven aroma with a scent of bitter chocolate, bourbon, and wine. Dark roasted barley malt with a scent of dark chocolate, coffee, charred toast, smoke, biscuit, caramel, and yeast. Sweet hints of molasses. Moderate barrel hints of bourbon, vanilla, oak, and red wine. Also some hints of tobacco, leather, and black licorice. A pretty solid aroma.
Taste: Like it smells, a roasty and sweet dark malt driven taste with notes of chocolate, bourbon, and wine. Dark roasted barley malt with notes of bitter dark chocolate, coffee, burnt toast, smoke, biscuit, caramel, and yeast. Sweet taste of molasses. Moderate barrel notes of bourbon, oak, vanilla, and red wine. Subtle notes of tobacco, peat, and black licorice. A pretty nice taste.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Slick and creamy with moderate alcohol heat.
Overall: A pretty nice Imperial Stout. Very roasty and charred.

Black with tan head.
Peat and roast with a lot of molasses. Charred and burnt. Ashy and tar. Roasted. I do not like this at all. The wine is minimal and the bourbon doesn't show much at all.
I couldn't enjoy this one at all.
