I believe this is the Black Snow Porter aged in a barrel that had previously been used to age the Czar Jack Imperial Stout.
Black body. Thin brown head leaves a surprisingly bountiful supply of lace. If this is the second run on this barrel, it's still got some great whiskey tones on the nose. Sweet and bourbon like, vanilla, oak, roasted malts, tobacco juice, char... all these come to mind when smelling this concoction. I love it. Reminiscent of the aroma that their Whiskey Barrel oatmeal stout emitted a while back. Carbonation level is low and this lends to a creamy mouthfeel. Medium body. Great roasted bitterness on the palate. Stems from the roasted malts and coffee. The coffee is still present in this beer, although more subtly now than before. The barrel properties are more subdued on the buds than on the nose. Sitll some of that nice vanilla, oak, sweet bourbon stuff going on. An interesting medly of flavors in this beer with contributions coming from the roasted malts, coffee and the whiskey barrel. It's good.
