Here's a beer that really comes together nicely. Deep amber color...very aromatic with floral notes as well as notes of pine and caramel.
This reminds me of some of the west coast offerings from Pizza Port, Apline, and others. The hops are juicy and fresh but there is a nice lingering jagged finish to this as well. Begins with a sweeter malt and hoppiness combination but finishes with a blast of jagged bitterness.
Very enjoyable beer.

Tried this the weekend my buddy came up for this year's Darkness release. Had a nice afternoon at Town Hall playing pool and darts. Drank from a generic pint glass.
Appearance- Pours a deep copper orange with a nice one fingered creamy head. Great cap and collar remain with loads of sticky lacing.
Smell- Full of roast and caramel with a lightly piney hoppiness. I get the 5 hop thing but not a single variety stands out. The malt holds it's own for the most part but that pine and light lemony citric bite stands out.
Taste- Full and rich with a big hearty maltiness. Some caramel and toffee abound, but plenty of hoppy goodness with loads of pine and grass. Some pithy grapefruit bitterness on the finish and candied orange peel. I'm not sure I'd say balanced but it's somewhere near that point.
Mouthfeel- Thick and rich with a smooth velvety bite. The carbonation is light and manageable which definitely aids in the creaminess.
Drinkability- Not too damn shabby. Enjoyed this brew while playing darts and before I knew it - beer was gone. It's what I describe as a hybrid brew because it seems every sip brings forth a different style possibility. I disagree with the IPA labeling here on BA but honestly I don't know what else it could be listed as.

Love the look. It illuminates the color of autumn. Deep shade of auburn. Crystal clear. Clingy dirty white head. Aroma is hoppy...floral and spicy. Also some wafts of caramel and doughy malts on the nose. This beer always exhibits such nice balance, year in and year out. The malts are rich and luxurious. The hops are quite spicy. A little ghostly cinnamon even. Bitterness is clean and subdued. This is really an easy drinking flavorful beer. Always look forward to this one every year.

Shared a pitcher of this with some buddies into pint glass.
Color is an amber copper. 1 finger of creamy head. Good retention and lace.
Aroma: very ipa like. Grapefruit. Floral hops. I dig it.
Taste: Very similar to the aroma. More hops however. Big floral taste with caramel notes.
Mouthfeel: Bitter and smooth. Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Ends with a stick dry aftertaste.
Overall, good and drinkable 'ipa.' Still don't know what the official style of this is, but they call it a dark ipa. Either way, another drinkable ipa from town hall

Had this on tap about half an hour after the release. The server said it was a "Dark IPA."
Served in a standard pint glass, this is a red hued amber mahogany color with a nice creamy tan head with pretty good retention. Leaves nice lacing all over the glass.
The nose is an excellent combination of floral and earthy hops, with a slight edge going to the floral. Has a nice sweetness to it as well. Great smelling beer.
The taste kinda goes the opposite direction, in that the piney and resiny hops win out over the floral hops. Fairly bitter, but nothing too intense. Nice lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Also a nice malt backbone.
Mouthfeel is smooth and easy going down. Medium in body, with an appropriate carbonation. Nice bitter bite towards the end. Drinkability is great, what a great session beer.
Overall, a solid offering from Town Hall. I prefer Masala Mama to this, but this is still a great brew, and worth a try.
