Stopped in Town Hall during happy hour with some friends. Got some Mango Mama and a pitcher of Hope and King, among others, and finished off the early evening with this.

Served in a pint glass with only a swirl of light tan head. Retention isn't the greatest and it doesn't leave much lacing. The color is brilliant, ruby red with copper tones. Beautiful.

The nose is distinctly Belgian, very much like a Dubbel should smell like. Dark fruits, toffee and Belgian yeasts.

The taste is similar to the nose, but the dark fruit notes are more prominant. Toffee and yeast notes sit in the background.

Mouthfeel is light to medium, much crisper than I would have liked. It sort of takes away from the beer because you have to wait for the carbonation to settle in your mouth before you can appreciate the taste.

Drinkability is ok. Since the crispness was so high, it was difficult to drink, but I had no problem finishing my pint.

A nice try at a Dubbel from Town Hall. I think it needs to be tweeked just a bit to make it smoother and then it would be pretty good.

On-tap at the brewpub and served in a pint glass. It appeared a clear and vibrant red with a short head. From the aroma, it immediately reminds me of other TH Belgians. The beer had a lot of toasted grain and caramel flavor with a little toffee. The menu tells me to taste for ripe fruit and while there's a little white grape and molasses, the malt dominates this brew. While it's a good beer and easy to drink, it doesn't quite stack up to the great Belgians.

The beer style is an abbey, but that is not a category.

Poured into my new TH chalice.

Color is a ruby hued copper brown. Pours 1 finger of light tan head. Fades down quick. No lace.

Aroma: caramel and toffee notes. Toasted malt flavors. Some Belgian yeast flavors. Also has some dark dries fruits.

Taste: a lot similar to the aroma. Not to much difference here except I get a little bit of chocholate and some spice notes. Also I get some banana flavors.

Mouthfeel: crisp and refreshingly smooth. A lighter body for the abv. Lower amount of carbonation. Ends very clean.

Overall, a great beer to be able to try. Easy drinker, no presence of the abv. I do like it and will have another glass.
