I recall liking this quite a bit on tap so the crowd is tense as the 750ML crowler is pierced. Shared with wife #1.
The pour is copper, clear, & near-still, a foment that’s not uncommon in crowlers ‘round here. The aroma is mostly bubblegum & red wine.
Double Oak Tripel stands out among the crowd of stouts, IPAs…& other stuff. The wine barrel is sharp & fruity up front buoyed by the gentler, less focused fruitiness of the base beer (plum, melon, other fruits I probably like). The bourbon is a gentle kick to the back of the throat carried by a stab of oak. Light & deceiving for the double digit IPA, this goes down like warm Coors after a baseball game in the heat (easy, that is).
There’s not much actual beer taste here but it’s still very good.
