On tap at the Station, pours a dark reddish black-brown, with a khaki head. Nose is juicy cherry, pine, a little faint whiff of chocolate. The taste carries the nose forward, and amps it up: more cherry, and there’s also a decent bit of acrid burnt toasted grainy malt. Definitely a little dirty earthy bitterness that lingers, and a little lively hoppiness.
This is not one of my favorite styles, but every once in a while, I figure it’s worth a shot. To me, this one does a god job with some distinctive possibilities within the style. But it still leaves me a little unsure about something implicit to the style.

Tap pour at Town Hall Station.
Ruby brown colored body. Fluffy light tan head. Leaves behind thick rings of lacing.
Toasted malt and floral, spicy hops.
Toasted malt and bitter piney hope. Caramel molasses in the aftertaste.
Medium mouth feel. Smooth but a little drying.
Tasty black IPA with chocolate, spice, bitter pine, and caramel.

Black ipa.
Khaki head with lots of lace. Caramel dark brown color.
Hoppy and resiny. Caramel. Grapefruit citrus. A bit dank. Cocoa and chocolate. Pretty solid cascadian dark ale. Hits all the spots and drinks easy. Nice bitterness, but pretty smooth.
