Here is the beer that becomes Manhattan Reserve, before it goes in the barrels. And I've got a whole crowler to myself. Yum, a dum, dum....or am I going too far ahead?
Bright, bold crimson coloring, thoroughly opaque, slim whitish head.
In the nose: Cherries on top, Belgian malt and yeast just below. Belgian funky feel melds well with fruit.
In the mouth: Sweetness grips the palate first, big fruit flavors are in full command. Sweet fruit flavors and alcoholic warmth, hand in hand. Juicy malt pokes it's head up, but the cherry infusion completely suffuses the other aspects of this brew. Not that there's anything too terrible about that.
This may be a bit too sweet for me. I am enjoying it, but I wouldn't return to it too quickly.
Actually, I find that I really should have saved this for a special dessert, with some sweet chocolate treat. Or, maybe it should just be shared. It's a bit much for one person in one sitting.
Grand Cru finished with tart cherries.

fun beer, a strong ale with some belgian maltiness to it, brewed with cherries, tasting mature or even cellared from the tap, mellowed and perhaps a little oxidized as well, but really well integrated, unique, and despite being sweet, not heavy or boozy to me, well done overall. caramelized amber brownish color, frothy tan headed, fizzy and excited for beer like this. i dont get a ton of belgian yeast from it in nose or taste, almost more english there, bready and sturdy. lots of sweetness from the grain, molasses and maple notes, nutty too, candied, made a little sweet by the cherries, but there is raisin and fig here too. some medicinal tang to the cherries too which i like because it cuts through a little of the sweetness in this, kind of lightening it up a bit. not too boozy, full expansive body and enough carbonation coming through as well. lots of flavor here, not too much cherry its a great accent in a well built strong ale. i absolutely love the beers these guys are making, always something interesting and exciting like this on tap. yum.

Draft. Orange/red tan. Minimal head. Subtle aroma, not as strong as I would have thought. Little tart cherry followed by typical grand cru flavors. The taste is a little disappointing in that I would have liked more cherry flavors out of it. It's almost as if they didn't add enough cherry to really make an impact. Medium mouthfeel.
