We fell in love with this very special Rye whiskey made with 100% malted Rye by a Kentucky distiller, so we figured out how to get one. We were actually able to get two. After determining the correct blend our our strong Belgian style ales to partner with the barrels, we aged them properly. The first was released last year, you loved it! The second barrel was then transferred to another freshly dumped 100% Malted Rye barrel we acquired from the same distiller to age another full cycle. Yes, we begged!

Blend of Belgian style ales aged in two consecutive rye barrels.

On tap. Khaki head. Dark golden color.

I feel like there is a Belgian tripel and and Belgian strong golden in here somewhere. A lot of those flavors show along with a huge barrel presence. Big rye spice, oak, vanilla, toffee, and caramel. Red apple skins, pears, honey. Nice and warming, but pleasant.

Had I not know it, I may not have realized this was a Belgian ale. Very, very good.

Crowler can from the brewery, obtained during 2024 Town Hall Barrel Aged Week.
Clear, deep amber colored body. Brief lasting egg shell white head, but there is a surface storm and a ring fed by rising bubbles. No lacing.
Wafting rye whiskey aroma, along with brown bread, toffee, plum, prune, and raisin. Spice notes and oak. Enticing to hold the nose over the glass.
Taste is infused by rye whiskey and oak. Flavors of brown bread, plum, prune, cherry, raisin, honey, caramel, toffee, and a little cocoa. The rye spice is an ending for each sip. The higher alcohol results in a shortened aftertaste, but the dark fruits linger.
More than medium mouthfeel, with some syrup. Very warming but no burn (coats the mouth). Dry overall. Supportive carbonation.
Enough complexity to savor in the mouth before swallowing. The rye spice continues to expand throughout the session. Powerful brew but a relaxed experience.
