I've had the Regular Thunderstorm a few times but it isn’t my favorite. Honey wine barrels sounds interesting though. Drank from a generic snifter.

Appearance- Pours a chill (or barrel) hazed dark yellowish orange with a teeny white head. A thin collar remains with no head and no lacing.
Smell- Almost tart smelling with an orange peel like dominating scent. I get some barrel in the form of vanilla and oak but it’s fairly light. Not overly complicated but fruity and pretty intense.
Taste- A little more exciting (or complex) than the smell with plenty of wood coming out right from the get go. It’s tannic and lightly tart with a sort of oddly out of place fruitiness. I guess it’s obviously from the wine barrel but it’s pretty forward. Earthy at times with that definite unmistakable honey flavor. Seems a little boozy, especially for only 7%, but it’s not too bad.
Mouthfeel- Medium body, not too much heft but decent. Light carbonation with a slight quenching, somewhat dry finish.
Drinkability- I definitely like this better than the regular Thunderstorm. The Honey Wine barrels are pretty darn unique as the oak and tartness are an interesting twist. Definitely not what I expected when I took my first sip.

Served in a goblet, this one was kind of a muddied pale yellow, low on head and lacing.

The smell is amazing and in your face. The wine barrel spirits and wood stand out a ton. Some white wine, alcohol, pear and oak wood really make this one get your attention.

Strong boozy taste. Wine grapes, lots of oak, pretty darn sour in fact. Some apple and pear notes add to the complexity, but it is the barrel aging that stand out. Loads of oak and alcohol. I have a hard time believing this is only seven percent alcohol. I would have guessed 10-12.

Very dry and smooth. A definite sipper with a medium body.

I enjoyed this one for its depth and uniqueness. Worth a try if you are a fan of barrel aged beers and alcohol.

Poured from tap into a 10 oz snifter

A- One finger off white head, dissipates quickly, very murky, hazed orange light brown appearance, nice lacing.
S- Slight sourness and tart aroma to it, very unique, white grapes aroma to it, which I gather comes from the wine barrels that this beer was aged in.
T- Very tasty, complex, nice wine flavors are present, almost sour like but very mellow, spicy with hints of honey as well, and white grapes.
M- Medium mouth feel, nice tartness to it, medium carbonation
O- Very unique, very good, another quality brew from Town Hall, very complex. It’s definitely a sipper for me, but very enjoyable.

Served with ½ finger of beige head. Fades to a ring. Leaves some thin lace rings. Color is a hazed golden orange copper.

Aroma: Huge wine flavors. Sweet, but pleasant. Pear and fruit flavors. Some grapes. Honey and oak. Very inviting. A lot of solid flavors here.

Taste: Sweet honey, wine flavors, grapes, pretty fruity. Pears, green apples, and some spice. Oaky. Very complex.

Mouthfeel: Dry and crisp. Medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Ends dry.

Overall, this beer is solid. Very complex. A sipper, but really easy drinking at the same time. Very enjoyable. A definite treat.

Draft. Poured into a 10 oz tulip glass a hazed orange amber color with a 1 finger head that settles after a couple minutes and leaves nice sticky lace. The oak is really present in the nose along with some minimal cinnamon type notes. Sweet start of cinnamon, apple, pear, and oak. Ends fairly dry. An interesting beer and one in which I think the barrel adds a new layer of complexity. Some florals and slight black pepper as well. Medium mouthfeel.
