Razzenbock

On tap at the brewpub. Poured into a 10 oz. goblet glass.

Appearance: Deep amber orange body with a light hint of ruby red. Moderate bubbles. Head is about two fingers and one of the oddest colors I've seen. Its reddish white like a fruit shake. Retention and lacing is pretty good.

Smell: Huge aroma of raspberries here. Literally smells like fresh raspberries. Bready yeast and malts. Hints of banana, caramel, and citrus orange. Also some clove and coriander spices. Very light hint of hops in the background. The raspberries are by far the dominate note here and they smell pretty good.

Taste: Again, huge raspberry flavor that is the dominate taste throughout. Also some bready yeast, bananas, clove, coriander, pepper, and citrus orange. A little bit of caramel and toffee. Very light earthy hop presence. The raspberries are ripe and somewhat tart. They taste like real fruit and are not cloyingly sweet. This tastes pretty different than the regular Weizenbock but its pretty good.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, slick, and slightly syrupy. Alcohol is hidden very well.

Overall: A very good and interesting beer. The fruit infusion comes off very well for this Weizenbock.

Off white head with lace. Color is a raspberry caramel brown.

Aroma: pretty much all fresh raspberries. Some sweet malts. Maybe a hint molasses and raisins.

Taste: tons of super fresh raspberries. Kind of tart. Maybe some cherry flavors. A little bit of malt shows. Probably some caramel. Very fruit forward.

Mouthfeel: tart and smooth. Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Ends clean.

Overall, a great beer but hard to pick out the style. I enjoyed it but would never guess this to be a bock. Still really tasty.
