Fifteen years of Town Hall. Wow. That means 10 years of me patronizing them. (I still don't know what kept me from stopping in from 1997-2002. I think I just wasn't into brewpubs yet. Didn't trust them.)

So, here's the anniversary IPA made specially for this occasion. I scribbled these notes on it's ingredients: 15 year IPA…american double ipa, 9.4%, Centennial, Simcoe, Experimental 342, Nlson, columbus, with mn basswood honey

Now, let's check this out…

Beautiful amber coloring, darker, close to crimson, with a smallish head.

Aroma: Ah! Gorgeous. Every kind of citric fruit is dropped into this, there's pineapple and mango and tangerine and orange. Bright and sunny, ebullient, even. Stunning.

Taste: Yow! That is some zippy, zesty stuff right there. A thorough blast of citrus fruit, pine, and more, an incredible blast of everything available from the hops at hand. Everything from the nose returns on the tongue. Multitudes of fruit, citric and tropical, bitter blasts of pine, and exceptional doses of sweetness. The honey, possible added for fermentable sugars and raising the alcohol really shines through. This was utterly delicious, and was one of the most enjoyable beers I've had in quite some time.

I enjoyed this one over the course of two nights. (If I'd downed it in one night, I'd be useless the next day.) Went back for more the next Tuesday, and, sadly, growlers were gone, but I got to enjoy more on tap. Here's to 15 more!

On cask at the brew pub, love this place. Beer is reddish / orange with a mild haze, off white head, small bubbles, some lacing.

Aroma is a little malty, sweet, piny hops. Nice.

Beer is medium to light in body and sweet on the palate, pretty bitter, nice hop flavors, mostly earthy or piny hops. A good smooth mouthfeel, seems almost still on the palate, a lingering bitterness. I'd have it again.

10oz flute at the town house tap

look is your average orange amber, with a small off white head and spotty lacing. smell is boozy esters, dark fruit, blackberrys raisin. taste is powerful herbal hops along with the dark fruit of the nose. feel is a light medium with a small amount of oily hop residue.

solid double that hides the alcohol well and is very drinkable.

Had on tap anniversary week 10/26/12

Appearance: golden ale, thin white head, looks like an ipa

Aroma: huge huge huge citrus nose, honey, pine, malty background. Just an awesome aroma

Palate: this one is a taste bud destroyer. I love the hop forward-Ness, but it's not well balanced enough. Big hops, big booze, big beer

Taste: pine dominates the flavor with an earthy finish, not much citrus or pineapple that could give this ipa some robustness. Very good

Overall: a very powerful Dipa, one to please the hop heads, but not quite balanced enough to be one of the best.

Had this at town hall brewery on tap, this is a very drinkable DIPA. Visited the day before darkness day.

The look is good, it has a almost clear amber with gold highlights color and a small ring of head with limited lacing, not overly sticky.

The smell is kind of sweet and candy like, but under that is a nice array of hop notes from citrus to grass to slightly bitter. Not bad but I wish it had more hop bite.

The taste is excellent, the hop package is presented very clearly and cleanly without being over bitter or sweet, it's an amazingly balanced beer with a super smooth and resiny mouthfeel to boot. Tastes of tropical fruit, candy pineapple, dry lemon rind, slight toasted malt and some lingeringly bittersweet notes. Great stuff.

An excellent brew, well done!
