Aroma was very strong on the banana quality, smelling just like banana candy (there is some memory there I can't link to). Hard to detect little beyond that. Poured with a thinner head that receded on its own. Cloudy golden yellow. I was offered a lemon slice, which I declined.
Banana flavor dominates, but taste also included light wheat, malt and some wateriness. Also noted some bitterness with a long lingering on the finish. Cloves enter profile as warms and helps provide a better balance. Mouthfeel was too watery, but it is a fairly smooth drink, with a lower carbonation that somehow gives a sense of fullness when swished. Fluffiness developed as warmed by not fully realized.
Overall a nice stable hefe, short on robustness and complexity, yet still refreshing enough for a summer break.

On tap at the brewpub (ackk, fish out the lemon slice)...
Cloudy, hazy pineapple color (not as thick as some), decent 1/4 inch pale white head of two primary bubble sizes. Sheet laces with some traction. Fresh grassy ester aromas, not too cloying or artificial. Lots of apple accompanies the expected banana flavors, fresh but there's a lack of the spiciness of some. Finishes slightly lemony with the requisite loads of aftertaste. As usual, the profile suffers from Great Water's tendency to serve its pushed beers too friggin' cold (surprising for a brewpub with four cask beers on tap year round) -- but this is a serviceable Hefe in most characteristics.

Re visit June 9th 2004 - Color is a soild cloud of lemon juice yellow with a very thin whiteish head and leaves some spotty lace. Smell has some good banana juices mixed with some orange, light of wheat and yeastiness, quite fresh, some lemony spritzyness in there, but faint, and clove spice underneath.Taste is more of the same, good banana and oranges, some melon juices too, wheat, oats, light yeastyness, lemony citrus lightly dots in there and a solid little clove spice tops it off. Feel is right on for a good drinkin' hefe, smooth and citrusy juice filled fluff and pulp, but a watery lateness shows through with a touch of sour lemon bitterness. Not bad, good for a summer evening or afternoon lunch. Much better this year then last. And for some reason they throw in a lemon wedge, its actually not needed here, as the banana and orange are quite nice. Fish that out and your good to go.
