Best by date of 8-26 on growler.
Growler is filled about 2 inches short of the top.
Murky, dirted and muddied yellow/gold. Very little head. What's there is an off-white in color and doesn't leave much lace. Nice aroma. Similar, though not quite as good, as the ultimate wit aroma...Lake Louie's Farmhouse. Fresh belgian yeastiness with some wheatiness. Some orange. And a little fragrance and mint, but not overdone in that aspect. Just enough to add a nice delicate touch. The mouthfeel is quite lacking. Hardly any carbonation at all to this beer. Watery in that aspect, though the body is about medium or so. Disappointing feel to it. The flavor is a bit of a letdown as well. Dull wheat tang and some of that orange peel character. Not a lot of spiciness or zest to this wit. $9 for a growler of this was a waste of money.
Either there's a carbonation problem with the beer itself, or they need to learn how to fill growlers properly.

On tap at the brewpub...
Murky medium gold color with a slight golden-green cast to it. Whitish head of medium bubbles and average duration. Simple laces, some dots and downward dripping strings on the glass. Bright aroma, bready with pizza dough yeastiness without a strong oiliness, notes of cracked pepper. Medium mouthfeel overall, but with a drying quality later. Flavor has some light lemony tone, bready and fuzzy to start and moving to more astringency later. Slightly spicy and estery overall, but there's not a lot to draw this one out of an American style hefe category other than a sparer and more subtle finish. Not bad, interesting to have this one around.

On-tap at the brewpub: Cloudy straw yellow with a pale glow about it, medium white foamy head is adorning the top and holds for a good long while before fading to a slim coating of whipped foam and bubbles. Lacing is minimal with some light strings.
Aroma is all about the fresh wheat tang with this one. Snappy, fresh, and whole-hearted. Seemingly near the aroma of wheat crackers and pretzeled bread.
Taste brings lots of fresh wheaty tang to the table. Substantial flavors of wheat crackers, dry bread, and pretzel-like saltyness. Has a very distinct dryness to its character thats really nice and finishes with favorable herbs and spices dusted in with bread crusts. Comes across more like a really super nice Czech Pilsner then a Wit as there is very little to nothing of lemon, orange, or corriander thats usually associated with the style. But that didn't bother me one bit as it is fairly strong in its wheaty tangyness, almost bringing its own fruityness within. Quite an interesting approach and is good none-the-less.
Feel is about medium with a nice wheat tang to its overall body, drys out moderately while holding its own delicate carbonation.
A very nice beer here. Perhaps a bit off-style, but I'm putting that aside as it suits me just fine. Drinkable by leaps and bounds compared to alot of past GW brews that were always coming up short in the smell, taste, and body department. A sign of things to come as the new brewer is well on his way to keeping up with the taste trends of the brew enthused. Looking forward to more.
