Pours cloudy straw with a thin white foam collar, not overpowering but does have a touch of clove to it – tastes like it has been toned down for the tourists. Medium body and carbonation.

Today it was 84 degrees and humid in Saint Paul/Minneapolis. Perhaps because of the weather, this beer was exceptionally refreshing. Poured into a pint glass, this is a hazy yellow color with a small white head that eventually dissipated. Not much lacing noted on the glass, but there were plenty of bubbles emerging from the lower depths.. The smell is of lemons, bananas, and cloves. The taste is just about identical to the smell. The flavors were intense but not unbalanced. This beer is perfect for warmer weather, as it's very flavorful and thirst-quenching(and about 5% alcohol). I can easily imagine sitting on their patio and enjoying several pints of this beer.

Two different reviews merged into one. One is older and the other is from last weekend. The beer was a bit different and I am guessing a modest variation from batch to batch.

The beer is cloudy gold with a light head. The nose has banana hints and the newer variety appears to be milder than the past rendition. I like the new nose better. The flavor in the old rendition had some banana and smoky tones to it. The new variety has the banana and more of a creaminess behind the flavor with just enough grain and bitter mixed it to make it a "solid" beer. The smoke deletion is good to go. Both times the beer tended to have a clean and creamy flavor and presentation. The banana was probably the most noteworty characteristic previously, but now I think the mild bittering from the grains has supplanted it. No longer is the finish smoky. Nice and clean. I prefer the modern version of this beer and my numbers for scoring reflect that.

Head falls flat quickly on top of a very light, straw yellow beer. Spicy nose but a bit off--doesn't give off the banana, just too much clove or hops. Taste is weak, watery, and a bit astringent. Overly bitter and dry for the style. Not too bad to drink, but won't order it a second time.

A pale gold slightly hazy beer with a nice white head. It's a little too light colored, kind of yellowy. Nose is bananas, cloves, and sharp lemon over yeast. Taste is actually quite spicy, with a clove finish and a hint of hops. Not as complex as the smell was. Nonetheless it's very drinkable and the mouthfeel is enjoyable.

Silty mustard hued crowned with a narrow slit of dying beige.
Big weizen phenol laden nose, with the requisite banana, vanilla, and clove. Vanilla, then, comandeers nearly everything, adding a sugary sense of boxed pudding mixture.
Brawny up front, with (obviously) wheat as well as a gooey caramel nougat. It remains thickish and sweet leadning throughout. Banana pudding, more vanilla extract, gummi fruits. Clove is largely drowned in the sweet goop, but pops out near the close with a low-scale, wet grass bitterness.
Again, this is a heavy version, modestly carbonated, and (almost) approaching cloying, but the sweet flavors are generally agreeable.
Solid, if different.

Hazy golden hued, solid cap of foam.

Aroma: big bananas and bubblegum

taste: slim & hollow, threadbare texture, yet juicy.

bottoms out a bit too early, a weakish weizen, doesn't provide enough pleasure from the glass. Easy to drink and eager to please, but I look for a little more beyond that.

A simple, almost insipid weizen. Nice try, but not quite.

Lemon mud color with a white creamy head thats medium to tall in height and keeps to the top for a good length. Nice lacing in moderate sheeting and broken strings.

Aroma is like that of banana cream pie. A fairly prominent musty floralesk yeast interludes behind the banana.

Taste is a bit odd, the front is dull and mildly earthy with a light yeasty spice where it seems a bit mushy of bready malt sweetness with what is like clove and corriander, but I also taste a smidgeon of sea salt and cinnamon. Big banana tang mush plows through to the finish with a sticky wheat malt and loads of fresh banana flavoring thats a tad on a side of artificial-like. Light clove finish.

Feel is creamy and fulfilling within a strident chewyness and mild, firm medium body. Seems like there's more to it when there's not.

This is a strange hefe, pretty beefy and heavy-handed compared to most. Big on malts and banana. Didn't like the weird front to this beer, that, and it also comes across a bit too thick and greasy for the style, but its a drinkable enough beer for what it is. Different.

On tap at the brewpub...

Fuzzy dark pineapple appearance, hazy as its supposed to be. Medium milky head, settles at 1/4 of an inch. Nice thick foam collars for lacing on the glass. Good and distinctly banana aroma. Thick mouthfeel, very silky and smooth on the tongue. Could actually use some of the lemon acidity I complain about in many Hefes, as the banana esters (which in their manner are more like artificial flavors than real banana) are very pervasive, sweet and long-lasting in this one. Slight husky toffee sweetness at the finish. Pretty nice and authentic, very quaffable, plenty of dinkability in this rendition. No pretender to a Hefe in many aspects, slightly too sweet and thick in some ways, but another very nice product from the new brewer.
