Amber color with heavy lacing and a broad rim of foam. Some light prickle. Nicely balanced nose of hops and malt that present themselves separately, but still work together. Hoppy attack to the flavor that rides on the bed of malt. Decent presence of smooth and creamy malt, but definitely tipped toward the hoppy side of the spectrum. Very smooth malt character, but sharp and acidic hops. Some floral tastes are hidden within the flavor. The mouthfeel is decent.

I believe this was labeled Hop Scare II, but I could be wrong.
Murky orange brown color with one finger head, nice lacing.
Citrus, hops and sweet malt.
Big hops, sweet caramel malt, some citrus, a bit nutty.
Medium bodied, slight chewiness, dry finish, bites the tongue.
Good drinkability, I would pick up a growler of this next time.

Pours somewhat hazy, has a golden hue with a small islandy head and thin slowly falling lacing.
Smell is barely there, light sort of stale malt presence. I smell a tiny bit of herbal hops and a subtle grapefruit pith odor, but very little else. It smells exactly the same as their PA.
The hop profile is a tad disappointing. Weak, artificial pine notes are somewhat apparent. There is a bitter toffee flavor accompanied by faint unidentifiable citrus notes. Goes down somewhat bitter, but there is no indication of this trying to be an IPA.
Mouthfeel is there, a little syrupy and a fair amount of carbonation for the style. Light to medium body.
Drinkability is solid, goes down easy and doesn't fill you up.
I am convinced that this is a slightly amped up version of their PA, it tastes almost identical. Not sure what the deal is, but I don't wnat to think of this as an IPA. It could have just been very old, but they only produce 4 firkins at time so I can't see it being too old. The name is very deceiving.

My first review...choosing this beer from their selection was very easy...the name, "Hop Scare," drew me right in...the appearance was mouth watering, with a nice amber color and a 1/2 inch white head that dissipated slowly...the smell wasn't overwhelming, with a slight hoppiness, but the taste was a different case...nicely hopped up front, with a great malt balance...citrusy and juicy...just how I like 'em...don't know if I would call it a "Hop Scare," but it's tasty...mouthfeel is typical for the style...not thick, but not thin, with a nice carbonation and slight stickiness....very drinkable...had two with dinner...overall a delicious beer...I would definately enjoy it again

Served on tap at the brewpub, this pours a clear dark reddish amber color, with a small wihte head that quickly dissipates, leaving a fine white lacing on the glass. The smell is minimally hoppy. The taste, however is a veritable hop explosion, with citrus(grapefruit being predominant), an earthy flavor, and a slight pine flavoring being notable. The mouthfeel is rich. Drinkability is excellent. If you love hops(Amarillo, according to the brewer), you'll love this!
