500 ml bottle (probably pasteurised), as Norseman Pale Ale (Orkney / Sinclair Brweries is only mentioned on the rear label), at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.4%. Golden colour, moderate white head. Strong sweetish aroma of pear drops and butterscotch. The flavour is initially more malty than hoppy, medium sweet with a dry finish, hints of butterscotch and pear drops again, quite bitter hoppy aftertaste though. Drinkable, but this is not Orkney’s / Sinclair’s best beer. Maybe more "English" in style than Orkney’s other ales.

On cask in Edinburgh. Cost was 4 quid at a Wetherspoons.
A flat stale mouthfeel coupled with unbalanced assertive hop bitterness make this an ale to forget. Malt backbone tries to walk the line between appealing to both ake and lager drinkers, but the result is an inconsequential neutral foundation which lacks character. A hint of buttery diacetyl plagues the flavour profile.
Hop profile is bland, but hints of generic floral and zesty character do poke out from beneath the surface.
A drinkable albeit somewhat insipid brew at a decent price by local standards. Standard Wetherspoons schlock, but not an ale for the discerning drinker.
