Appearance: Pours a nearly completely dark color with a strong tan head. SRM of 22. (3.75)
Aroma: Strong aromas of chocolate upfront. This is followed quickly by vanilla and grains. Then huge aromas of coconut and banana develop behind that.
Flavor: Strong flavors of chocolate upfront that quickly fade into a grain and coconut flavor. This evolves in a vanilla and banana cream pie and buttered popcorn flavor. Finishes with more coconut. Minimal roast. Finishes sweet.
Feel: Medium-bodied, moderate carbonation. A soft, smooth, and lightly sweet mouthfeel
Overall: I'm fairly new at the whole coconut stout thing. This one drinks well. Chocolate, vanilla, coconut, banana, and buttered popcorn flavors. Lightly sweet, and smooth. I think it could hide even a little more alcohol here and be even better. (Rating: 3.90)

12 oz. can, canned 08/25/22. A new one to me from Saugatuck Brewing Company, acquired a single can of this stuff as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's.
Poured to Camp Crystal Lake stemless tumbler glass.
Pours deeeep dark cola brown, chestnut, nearly black, with a finger of fizzy chocolate-tan head. Leaves some good sticky sugary lacing on the glass. Looks very nice.
Lightly roasty, cola-esque aromas, with lots of nice authentic toasted flaked coconut. Notes of cocoa & vanilla.
Taste follows the nose, hitting all the right notes: cocoa, cream, vanilla extract, toasted flaked coconut throughout.
Feel is smooth, crisp, light-bodied, & easy-drinking. Sticky, sugary, & sweet, but not overly so at all. Well balanced and drinkable stuff. Lowly abv is not filling or bloating; it's nice to taste a dessert beer that doesn't fill you up like an entire meal, which is something I like to factor in to the "feel" and drinkability of the beer.
Overall, Saugatuck puts out some pretty solid offerings, and this one is no exception. Worth a shot.

Let's drop the contents of two twelve ounce cans of this into a clear glass liter mug for observation. There's not much of a head on top of a dark chocolate colored liquid. The smell is slightly malty and faintly of coconut. The body is malty good, without adding any additional sweetness, nor roasted notes to the flavor. So too the flavor, which is softly sweet and mild in its delivery of coconut. Many that despise the desert beer concept might appreciate this. It's a very accessible brew, with no pushy characters. The malt is subdued and the coconut is but a noticeable hint. But, it's thin across the palate and overall, unremarkable. It's not expensive, nor is it high in alcohol, so a taste try could be worth it.

Saugatuck Beam Me Up, Stouty, is a dream come true, if you desire a hearty tasting stout with a sessionable 4.7% ABV. It's a coconut stout, and pours black into a pint glass. There is but a half inch head, entirely gone in two minutes flat, and zero lacing. I am not surprised... coconut is an oily fruit, much like pumpkin, which typically behaves likewise in a beer. The nose is quite nice... the sweet scent of coconut mixes well with the woody, earthy, smoky notes of a good stout. The scents linger nicely in the taste, which adds a malty, toasty flavor. The beer pleasantly rolls across the tongue. Beam Me Up Stouty loses points in look and feel because of its' oiliness, but that is more than offset by the scent and taste of this beer. I hope it is available in the summer, but I doubt it. Enjoy it now!

Poured nearly black but not quite, the beige head made a quick appearance and was beamed out.
The aroma was mild and I couldn’t find the coconut, but my nose is damaged so that’s not too surprising.
The taste is good actually, they don’t over do the coconut flavor so it almost becomes part of the feel instead of the flavor. Like it better than their GOAT.
The feel, for a sub 5% abv, very respectable. I think I could drink several of these over the course of the evening and still have my wits about me.

I wanted to like this one more than I did. I really enjoy stouts from Saugatuck and had to go out of my way to get their 12 pack of four different stouts. The other three I have reviewed before or will soon (G.O.A.T.) but, having had the others I opened this first.
The appearance of this beer, at 4.7%, is just underwhelming. I am referring to the head of course. It disappears like the “president” of Afghanistan with a helicopter full of cash when the Americans propping up his corrupt regime pull out. I mean quickly. Poured a 12 ounce can hard in a wine stem. Left with a flat cola looking liquid. Opaque black. MAYBE some brown highlights on the edges. Smells aren’t bad but I think there’s some artificial stuff going on. Perhaps a toasted coconut buried under another adjunct and decent malts. If pressed I think I would say the taste is reminiscent of a milk stout if the “lactose” was in fact oat milk. Yeah! I get the quality roasted malt base but then the oat milk and artificial toasted coconut.
Finish? Who cares. Just like the rest of this one. Worst Saugatuck I have had and worst stout in a lonnng time. Since I tried something from Leinenkugels, probably.
My rating reflects the appropriate handicap for all non-IPAs that I believe is fair until the madness stops.

Poured into a tall clear pint glass. Dark brown in appearance, with a brown head about a finger and a half thick. Dissipates somewhat quickly, decent retention.
Aroma is mainly roasted malts and coconut, along with some chocolate and dark fruit. There's also a little bit of coffee, toffee, and the hops are earthy and slightly dank.
Almost exactly as what the aroma suggests. Mainly tasting coffee, toffee, roasted malts, and coconut, and the flavor trails off into the chocolate and dark fruit. Body feels light.

Nice flavored stout. There is a nice hint of coconut and not overly sweet. This one is one of my favorites from this brewery. There is nothing flashy but nice when something different is called for.

From a twelve ounce aluminum can, this brew has a mostly black complexion, with ruby red highlights when held to a light. The head is light tan, thick, creamy, and lasting. The aroma is sweet, with a bit of coconut and plenty of grain and deep chocolate and coffee scents. The taste is more balanced than the nose leads you to believe. Thick mouthfeel. All in all, this is an fine beer.
