Murky brown in color. No head retention. The color of this beer reminds me of wood stain. Smells similar to a belgian. Hoppy, oily, orange juice, with some kind of velvety softness in the nose.

Taste is much simpler than I thought it would be. It has some flavor, but its not the imperial india pale ale norm. Its softer, easier on the palate, and quickly subdues. Possibly even a mild skunkiness going on?

For barrel-aged, this beer is wimpy. For a double IPA, this beer is hella wimpy. The fact that this beer is both of those things and tastes like apple juice that was left in the fridge too long leaves me dumbfounded.

Maybe thats what barrel aging an IPA (which i thought strange in the first place) does to it?
