This was barrel aged? Hard to tell. Body is watery, smell is sweet malt and candi sugar, and taste is sickly sweet toffee, brown sugar and caramel. No barrel characteristics at all. But hey, its looks pretty!

Dark brown body, deep oak coloring, with a fluffy off brown head. Smell is cereal sweet like a candy corn smell, can't tell this was barrel aged. Over the top sweetness almost comes across as artificial. The taste is sweet with a toffee and toasted malt flavor. Cannot detect any barrel aging. This beer is thin, watery, and sweet. Not good.

12 oz bottle, no bottled on date. This was just released however, it appears to have been hand-labelled, with a handwritten name, abv, batch #, and bottle #. Handwritten 4.60% abv, Batch #1436, Bottle # 1281. Acquired a bottle of this stuff at the local bottle shop. I'm intrigued.
Poured into a Big Eddy snifter.
A - Pours a tawny mahogany / ruby colored body, a big two fingers of foamy khaki tan head that persistently stays, leaving fat fluffy lacing behind. Not a particularly thick or heavy appearance, especially for barrel-aged beer, but with the low abv in consideration, it looks okay.
S - A musty, yeasty, doughy sort of aroma, notes of herbal spicing, licorice, must, damp wood, gasoline. No overt notes of caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon barrel, or oak. Interesting, but not indicative of the style; i wouldn't know this was a barrel-aged brown ale based on aroma alone.
T - Taste brings in much of the same: fluffy, yeasty, & spritzy. Notes of vanilla, caramel, & oak wood do pull through, but no notes of chocolate, bourbon, or roasted malt. Subtle notes of spices (licorice / anise) are apparent.
M - Feel is is smooth & creamy, semi-dry finish. Carbonation is a bit rough, definitely a bit too much. Medium-bodied.
Overall, a bit abrasive for the style. Glad to have tried it, but i was unimpressed.
