Sampling this 16 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug at cellar temperature. I was trying as many of these "collab" beers as possible a while back, so excited to get another entrant here.
Holy FOAM on the pour Batman! the beer pours a dark chocolate brown entering my mug and even with a gentle pour , I get a large tan fluffy head that is easy 6 cm and would overtop my glass if I tried to pour the entire can. the foam recedes slowly and leaves some dense lattice as it slides down my glass.
Aroma is roasted malts, dark chocolate, and Im getting hints of cinnamon , even though I dont believe there is any in this beer. I dont get any hop characters and ABV is hidden.
First sip is medium body and smooth texture with fairly sharp carbonation. Maybe that explains the foaminess on the pour.
Flavor is similar to the nose, with a good bit of roasted notes, almost charred wood actually. Dark chocolate comes in and there is a little anice/black licorice hit too. Some of the chocolate is chalkier like cocoa powder, but never any hop note and ABV hidden here too.
This is a fine, sort of olde school stout, no adjunct straightforward roast and chocolate. I enjoy it, even if I ding the appearance rating a bit due to the foaminess.

Black is Beautiful from Saugatuck. 16 oz can. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Received from @Whyteboar in NBW BIF #16. Reviewed 30/01/23 (Review 3125). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Served at 50.3 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 53.2 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), clear.
Body – Ruby Brown (SRM 24), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear lite, same but some ruby at the edges.
Head – Average (Maximum 2.5 cm, aggressive center pour), dun, high density, quickly receding to a jagged 0.5 – 1.3 cm crown and a thin partial cap.
Lacing – Fair. Irregular band of tiny bubbles breaking into torn curtains.
Aroma – 3.5 – Weak roasted malt. Slight oakiness. No hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins lightly sweet but rapidly shifts to a bitter burnt malt, no hops, no yeast. No ethanol (6 % ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. No gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3 – Medium, watery, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.25 (After deducting 0.25 point for undated personal container) Overall, an average American stout, although the burnt malt taste is relatively unusual. Thanks Craig!

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours black with light brown head. Nose is black licorice, molasses, dark chocolate, roasted malts, and blackberries. Really nice. The taste is good. Charred wood, black licorice, super dark chocolate, a bit of smoke, and a sweet toffee note. Lots of flavor for a 6% beer. A bit of soy sauce. Mouthfeel is pretty creamy. Aftertaste is pretty sweet.
