This was not a porter. A dark lager would more fit the description. Dark in color as it comes out of the tap with a minimal tan head that faded to reveal a bare top. The aroma was imitation chocolate and light grain. Far too thin. But when I reach in for the taste, oh what the hell, this was a mess. Unbalanced and utterly unflattering I am really not sure what is going on here at all. Light note of roasted chocolate covering a non exixtent body and essentially transparent profile. A mess here, seriously a mess.

Poured pitch black from the tap with a minimal head that disappears rapidly and leaves no trace. Aroma is metallic and slightly chocolatey. Minimal hop aroma. Taste is malty but very little chocolate. Burnt grains and toasty bread. This was my second beer from Southend in Charleston and I have been disappointed with both offerings.
