There is one thing that can be said about this beer....EFFIN Incredible!! No beer has ever tasted better from start to finish. I had it sitting out in the freezing cold at the San Fran Rogue Public House and after a half pint, I was warmer and happier than ever. I had 4 pints and achieved an amazing buzz. Had the best sleep ever and woke up feeling great! If only I could find a way to get a mass amount shipped to Florida.

Had this with some mates at Rogue, San Francisco. Woah,.. guess I didn't figure that the name would ring so true.
Appearance> Dark, almost black.chocolate malt hed with some retention and a heck of a lot of lacing.
Smell> Like rum-filled dark chocolate candy
Taste> intriguing burnt malt goodness, then sweet with a big hang that could give you cancer with its bunt toast taste.
Mouthfeel> Chewy
Drinkability> Pretty drinkable, but I just can't drink so much chewiness... and so much rum. Chewy rum. I dunno.

Ahhh, what a luscious aroma! You can almost tell a great stout aroma is eminent from the deeply tanned head of espresso-like froth that so often presages it. The aroma is rich, roasted and coffee-like – a work of art. The flavor is also intensely roasted and suggestive of coffee. It arrives late on the palate then lingers invitingly on the breath.

Oak Rum Stout is dry “hopped” with oak chips soaked in Rogue’s own Portland distilled rum. Elements of rum are referenced in the taste but only compliment an otherwise stand-alone stout. The rum character is otherwise not preeminent. Cascade hops contribute 65 IBU of balanced bittering but minimal forward flavor. A damn fine beer. Solidly recommended.
