Thanks to Mikesgroove for this extra.

12oz. brown bottle poured into a pint.

A: Pours a light amber, decent visibility. Short head with a skim of retention. Decent lacing.

S: Plenty of sweet grains. A bit of caramel and lightly toasty malts. No hops at all.

T/M: Nice malt bill. Caramel and toffe with hints of cocoa in the back. Still no hops. Body is medium full and very creamy.

D: Average. A bit heavy for the style but also interesting.

Bottle poured into a pint glass produced a good two fingers worth of white head on top of a clear golden body

Aromas of bread malts and light hops filled my nose average smelling

Sweet tasting lager for sure not too much hops present in the flavor I did like the taste of this one

Very drinkable nice and light in the mouth with a good bit of carbonation .I could easily kick back a few of these

Poured from a bottle to a pilsener glass. Had a yellowish-brown color and a somewhat cloudy thickness. There was a huge amount of head that didn't last long. A little bit of lacing.

The smell was very grainy, but had a small amount of florals mixed in. Odd, more than anything else.

I didn't care much for the taste. It was very grassy and grainy, something that didn't mix very well with the malts.

Had an okay amount of carbonation, but the aftertaste was a little nasty. Average mouthfeel.

This is just an average beer. The taste simply isn't that compelling. It's not wholly drinkable.

Bright and golden in color. Explosive carbonation to begin with but it seems to die down a little as it warms. Fizzy, fluffy head with decent retention. Smell of grains, corn, and an underlying hop presence. Taste is clean and fairly refreshing. Somewhat sweet and definitely a big malt presence. A hop bite that is very clean and borders crisp. Mouthfeel is light, not very lively though. The dying carbonation seems to be a factor. Drinkability is fairly good, just not a favorite of mine.

Whatever inspired me to try this one is beyond me, well no actually it was probably the artwork on the label, really actually pretty cool artwork. But anyway I was pretty sure I knew what I was getting before I even started but decided to go through with it anyway. Poured a golden amber, crystal clear, with a two inch head that was audibly fizzy. There was a ton of carbonation streaking up to the surface from the bottom and this kept something of a layer of white frothy stuff on the top throughout. Smell was dull, filled with a lot of cereal grain and corn like aromas, nothing really to write home about here. The taste followed suit accordingly and again was really nothing out of this world special. It had a touch of some muted pine hops at the end but they were mostly buried under an avalanche of grains and malts, with even a touch of rice. This was an earthy grain monster. The feel was actually more then decent as the carbonation stayed throughout and kept it from feeling dull and lifeless. It was however very light feeling and was an easy session candidate. Now don’t let this one get too warm, I made that mistake and the taste greatly depreciates once it warms up. Overall really cool label and artwork, but very lackluster lager. It was pretty much a typical macro in a much better looking label. Nothing really much to see here so you can more on, unless you are a bottle collector, but then again you probably would not be drinking it then would you?

More orange than amber with a fine particulate haze. The melted orange creamsicle cap looks decent enough and is impressively persistent. A nice lace display seals the deal on a slightly better than average look.

The aroma doesn't give me much to go on. It certainly isn't as bright as a helles lager nose ought to be. Lagerhead smells like it will be at least as pale malty as it is hoppy. We shall see.

This is okay beer, but is nothing to shout about. It strikes me as something less sexy than a Munich helles. An American amber lager perhaps? Good points are an impeccable malt-hop balance and easy drinkability. Bad points are lackluster flavor and a lack of personality. Okay, so maybe that's only one bad point, but it still doesn't add up something I care to drink again.

Minimally toasted golden malt is the star of this less than 'helles' show. More hoppiness would have helped since what hop flavor makes its way to my taste buds is actually pretty decent. I'm guessing that either English or German hops are in use; maybe both. It's tough to say for sure. The finish is short and clean, but not crisp.

Even keeping style in mind, the mouthfeel is merely acceptable. It's light without being watery (although it's close) and features less carbonation than it probably should.

I'm not impressed with Lagerhead Lager. The cartoon turtle on the label makes me think of the cartoon terrapin from Terrapin Beer Company. In the 'southern beer named after an aquatic reptile' category, any one of Terrapin's offerings wins, flippers down.

The beer pours a nice gold color with a 1/2" white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has an excellent malt scent that boasts of pale and Munich malts. It has a dry, bisquity scent as well. The taste is good. It has a smooth, malty flavor that goes down easy and finishes dry with residual malt sweetness. This is a tasty lager. The mouthfeel is good. It is a low/medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a very good lager. There's nothing exceptional about it, but it's true to style and well brewed.

Appearance – 12 oz bottle, Contract brewed by Frederick Brewing. It pours brilliantly clear despite being just out of the fridge. The golden beer supports a stark white head with what looks like strong carbonation

Smell – Toasted malt and a hint of herbal hops, clean fermentation with no sulfur.

Taste – Mild sweetness to start with enough hops to balance, but not enough to obstruct the toasted maltiness. Nice and clean, with a hint of noble hoppiness. Solid, relatively traditional flavor and its local so it compares favorably to imported pale lagers that always seem taste a bit off by the time they make it here. However, I want a bit more depth to the malt and maybe more in the way of finishing hops before I call this one great.

Mouthfeel – Medium body with medium strong carbonation.

Drinkability & Notes – Refreshing and easy to drink, particularly compared to the big Belgians I seem to have been drinking recently. A really solid pale lager, but nothing that really makes it stand out.

Pours a cloudy golden/amber with a small off-white head. The aroma is sweet and malty with a hint of straw. The taste is not quite as sweet as the aroma would suggest, but still offers plenty of caramel and biscuit offset nicely with some grassy, citrusy bitterness. Mouthfeel is crisp but unremarkable.

This is a very drinkable brew; very refreshing and tasty, a nice rendition of the Munich style lager - good to see an American micro have a go at this. Not the best in it's class, but a huge cut above the macro lagers, and a great summer thirst quencher.

This beer was tasted in a pilsner glass from the bottle.

The beer pours a pale golden color wihta sizeable head that fades quickly but leaves a thin film. The smell is of faint slightly sweet barley malts along with some hop aromas. The Primary taste is the barley malt but it is balanced well with some faint hops. The beer is nicely thick along with some good carbonation. This is overall an easy drinking beer, warm weather type of beer.

On tap at Frederick, MD brewing company now. You can try it for free during the Sat 130pm brew tours if you're curious.

With a decent advertising budget, or an aggressive campaign to get this beer into bars, I can see it selling to a very large range of people. This is definitely a mass-appeal brew, in the same vein as Samuel Adams. This one doesnt reach nearly the same quality level, but it is still a solid lager.

As anyone who has delved into the world of beers knows, lagers are not the most interesting or complex style. This is an average appearance, with the expected slightly-darker-than-pilsner appearance with small head. Expected non-descript nose. The taste is that mass-appeal flavor. Not too intrusive or bold. Ignorable and forgettable in a pleasant way. Slight malt & hop flavors pop up in the finish.

If you at a bar and want to drink, but dont want to be reminded you're drinking beer, this is a good one for you. Your average drinker could put away several of these at a sitting.

Not a bad little lager from the new brewer in Charleston, Sc. It does a fine job of representing the Munich Lager genre. The color was a very deep golden straw, with a crisp white head that dissipated quickly into a lace. The smell was lighty malty, but at the same time, had hints of caramel and some light hops. The taste was similar, but had more properties of the caramel taste. What was nice about the taste though, was how the caramel was nicely balanced with the malt. Neither was too overbearing, so it left a nice aftertaste in the mouth. It was very clean and crisp, something that would be awesome on a hot day.
