12 oz. bottle into a tulip glass

A - Hard pour produces a head that is 1 finger in height and is khaki in color. The head us a light fizzy froth in appearance and dissipates rather quickly. The beer itself is an incredibly dark brown, almost black, with light carbonation visible in the form of tiny bubbles around the very edges of the glass rising slowly toward the surface. 3.75/5

S - Milk chocolate, cold pressed coffee, vanilla, and sorghum really come out strongly along with notes of oak and bourbon. There is a nice rye spiciness to the aroma thanks to the bourbon barrel chips. There is finally a slight nuttiness to the aroma as well, showcasing the brown ale quality. Very appealing aroma. Essentially a light version of a typical bourbon barrel aged ale. 4/5

T - Milk chocolate, cold pressed coffee and medium roasted malt comes out along with a quite significant watery quality to the flavor. There is a light sweetness provided by a very light caramel note. The oak, vanilla, and bourbon all come out at once as undertones in the middle with just a hint of rye spiciness. Surprisingly not as flavorful as expected based on the aroma. 3.5/5

M - High carbonation burn up front which only slightly dissipates by the time the sip is swallowed. This allows the beer to maintain a very light quality to it despite it being a brown ale which typically drinks a bit heavier. Fairly crisp with no drying and the beer disappears from the palate upon swallowing completely. Slight watery quality to this beer. 3.5/5

O - Love the aroma of this beer but this unfortunately does not translate to a highly flavorful experience. Watery and the flavors come across more as undertones than anything. Sessionable due to watery nature and thirst quenching. 3.5/5

I picked up a bottle of Round Barn's Hi-Tech Redneck a couple weeks ago for $2.69 at Boyne Country Provisions. This one caught my eye and I thought it was worth trying out, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date.
Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a snifter.

A- The label looks ok, but it's a little plain and not too eye catching. It poured a brown color that took on more of an amber color when held to the light with a half fingers worth of bubbly tan head that quickly died to nothing and it didn't leave any lacing behind. This was an ok looking beer, but I wish the head and lacing were better.

S- The aroma starts off with a some malty aromas being the first to show up with some caramel malt like aromas seeming to stick out the most. Up next comes a medium amount of sweetness with a light bourbon barrel like aroma and some light tart aromas sho wing up in the background with just a little bit of funky yeast.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with those caramel malts being the first to show up and they are followed by the bourbon barrel which are light and make for a watery bourbon like flavor. Up next comes a light tartness with just a little bit of that funky yeast coming through. This wasn't a great tasting beer, the flavors didn't work that well together.

M- Not too smooth, medium bodied with a lighter amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is ok .

OVerall I wasn't a big fan of this beer and I didn't think it was a great example of the style, it just didn't know what it was trying to be and left me confused.

Poured into a tulip this beer pours a dark amber with a white inch thick head. Smell of roasted malt, bourbon, vanilla, oak, molasses, sweet malt, and some earth notes. Taste is light drinkable, some bourbon, a bit of corn husk, biscuit-y malt, vanilla, earthy hops, bit of metallic sour, nice carbonation. It has a moderate creamy mouth feel and a light body. Smells like a bourbon barrel stout, tastes like a brown cream ale, Kentucky Common Ale is a very cool style.

12oz bottle, thanks to my sister-in-law, Ann, for buying this for me while on a trip to Michigan
A - brown body with a thin tan head
S - chocolate, caramel, toffee, herbal hop
T - initially it tastes like an American brown ale: it's very sweet and malty with chocolate malt, caramel, and toasty grain, but the bourbon and oak flavors come in at the end with some vanilla while some spicy, earthy, and slightly herbal hops give it some much needed bitterness
M - medium body, overly sweet at times, very modestly bitter finish
O - decent American brown with a bourbon twist. Not the best thing I've had, not the worst thing I've had.

Brewed with a sour mash grain base (notice it doesn't say sour mash technique), as well as rye and "corn adjunct", then aged on whiskey barrel chips.
5.6% ABV.
Pours out to a clear deep mahogany, forming a limp yellow head with poor retention and minimal lacing. Carbonation is mild, ~2.0 carbs or so. Thin layer of sediment in the bottle. The nose is weakly of distant carob with a touch of oak and absent yeast character. No hop or roast aroma. Mouthfeel is soda-like, with a tart metallic acidity and watery body. The carbonation offers more flavor than the beer itself, coming close to soda water in it's metallic acidity. Sourness does not bode well for sanitation. There is the suggestion of cola, and perhaps a little roast character, a distant note of oak and a watery, bone dry finish. Aftertaste of kiwi fruit juice and pennies. Bitterness is mild-medium, not really requiring much to offset what little malt there is.

This is a peculiar, I hesitate to call it...beer. Obviously has issues, with the recipe itself and with the brewing process. I wouldn't drink it again.
