12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip glass. Looks like this may have been bottled 1/21/13. Not sure though.
This is motor oil. Viscous and thick. Not much head but a ring of dark-khaki-lace. Simple in appearance, but sexy all the same. 4.5
This nose is crazy. Oak in abundance and sticky tobacco. Dark chocolate and coffee notes. Tons of rich vanilla too. I appreciate the spicy bourbon notes that complement the other smells rather than consuming them. 4.5
Getting a little bit of tartness to the bourbon flavor that comes off like dark cherries. Dark chocolate, vanilla, oak and caramel mingle lightly in the wake of the tartness and the finish tastes like rich tobacco. Oh wait but there's more, figs and caramel and smoke and coffee. An incredible wealth of flavors, if perhaps a bit more tart than expected or desired. 4.25
Some tartness and some booze will keep you from chugging this, but the viscous creamy body soothes things out. It's like a slap and a kiss in succession. The finish is pretty wet and sticky and feels more like sipping a whiskey. Fine with me. 4
It's good.

Poured from 12oz bottle into snifter.
Pours a deep black with rich tan head with lacing. Aroma is rich with roasty malt notes and some chocolate. Alcohol warmth present as are some nice furity esters in the nose.
Flavor of roasted malt upfront with some alcohol heat. Very complex malty/estery blend. Prunes? Dark chocolate maybe? Malty sweetness lingers to the finish but is not cloying whatsoever.
Very full bodied and smooth with alcohol heat.
Overall, this is an amazingly delicious creation. Very rich and velvety smooth! Loved it!
