We burned the rulebooks, and when the smoke cleared we created this counter-culture interpretation of a California Common that’s dosed with juicy hop flavors.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of lemons, some floral notes. Taste is tart, lemons, crackers, some herbal notes, not really what I was expecting. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.

This beer pours a cloudy, bright yellow with lots of bubbles and a slim head that doesn't leave much lacing. The scent is strongly floral with bread tones, and the taste that follows suit. It's a good beer, overall.

Treated as a California Common (and had two glasses worth), this was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a transparent yellow color with a one finger white foamy head that stuck around for a good minute and a half. Light lacing clings to the side of the glass. The smell takes in some sweet corn glossing over some light sweet breadiness and then some light sweet grassiness. The taste copied the smell adequately. Dries out in the flavor. Slight biscuity aftertaste. Dry sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat a light on the body with a dry sessionable feel to it. Not wet like a normal "Cali Common" I’m used to. Carbonation seems to hit fine. Overall, as a California Common, it just seems way too dry.

" An Uncommon Cali Style Common."

L: Pours a pale gloden yellow with a finger of white head which recedes quickly.

S: Citrus hops, grapefruit, pine. A hop bomb.

T: Follows nose. Very hoppy. Quite bitter. I wasn't expecting this, but I guess I should have.

F: Moderate to high carbonation, medium to light body.

O: I enjoyed this, but this should be reclassified. I imagine that soon most california commons will be hoppy (essentially IPLs).

Picked-up a single as part of a mixed six-pack Kappy's in Norwell. Just noticed that the bottled-on date is September 2016 - thanks Kappy's. That in mind, a pretty decent brew, which would certainly be much better if not bottled 6 months ago.

A semi-hazy gold color with amber hues. All white foamy top. Spreads out, plenty of foamy rings and lace.

A sweet, citrus and herbal-fruity aroma pops out most. A buttery but light malt scent lingers , with chemy-herbs and sweet citrus fruits taking over in the end.

A very satisfying sweet malt flavor shows up first, not heavy, slick malt but very light and honey sweet. Sweet tropical and citric fruits from the hops kick in, mostly, mandarin orange, starfruit and pineapple. Major juicy hop effect in feel and flavor! I feel like I could wake up early in the morning and take a quick gulp of this to wake up, like the refreshing effects of early a.m o.j. A biting, zippy, light to medium mouthfeel is juicy, almost dry but certainly refreshing.

There is a subtle earthy, herbal and peppery kick to the hops but it really revolves around sweet citrus and luplin. Balance is very nice, as the lager yeast gives off bready-sweet & sour tones and deepens complexity. A very deep and intersting IPL. Big doses of hops over a crispy lager makes for a very "far-out" brew. Get on the bus.

A: [3.75] The bottle lists the ABV (6.0%). There is a very hard to read date code (08/31/2016). The beer is a murky apricot color. It forms just under 1 finger of white head.

S: [3.75] Herbal and hoppy. Unexpectedly hoppy. Pine, pineapple, lemon rind.

T: [4.25] Amped up version of the nose. Pineapple, melon, mango, lemon rind.

M: [3.75] Medium body and carbonation with a drawn out hoppy finish.

O: [4.00] My expectations were not that high and this blew them away. Really flavorful beer. Fruity and juicy with lots of tropical flavors (especially since this beer is almost 6 months old). Really enjoyable. I will repeat and recommend.
