Another example of the newly popular and happily received low ABV, highly hopped beers popping up all over the place this summer. While this one won't make anyone forget Lawson's Three Penny Especiale or any Tired Hands stuff, it's a nice effort by Otter Creek that may wind up overlooked. Billed as a "hoppy session ale" it's definitely that.
Nearly clear light gold body with a sizable, slowly settling head. Tremendous lace clinging all over the sides of the glass. Vivid aroma of floral and piney hops.
In the flavor there's little in the way of malt character or sweetness; perhaps a hint of biscuit, and a very dry overall feel. Lots of fresh hop notes, again very floral, slightly perfumy, with lesser pine and resinous notes. Lightly lingering aftertaste with restrained bitterness; the floral taste fades slowly away after the swallow.
Medium-light bodied with moderate, smooth carbonation. Not too bubbly and very easy to drink. A refreshing beer with a lively hop kick.
