dbalsock and I split a 22oz bottle of this and reviewed separately. Interestingly enough we came out with the same overall score.

Looks pretty similar to rootbeer. Thick, foamy head that will last decades with a hard pour.

Some fruity notes in the smell, along with some very faint coffee and something that smells like a wet dog... not my favorite smell to have in a beer.

As far as taste goes, there's a moderately aggressive tart strawberry flavor which is fairly unique. Definitely notes of coffee in this one. I also got hints of chocolate and honey.

The mouthfeel is average or maybe below... slightly unfiltered grainy texture that is akin to some homebrews (i.e. mine... the texture that I'd like to get rid of).

I haven't tried the other Hornpout offerings yet, but this one (as you can see from the scores I gave it) is all over the map. Has some good traits but needs work in other areas.

Appearance: Pours with a very even tan fhead. Pours dark brown with a decent carbonation.

Smell: Unripened strawberries, fruity hops and wet dog... hmmmm... wet dog?

Taste: The unripened strawberries mix with an unintrusive roasted/chocolate malty goodness. It reminds me of chocolate covered strawberries, but that would be hard to press on others. Not a very intense beer.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and unoppressively bitterr in a slight way, kinda flat.

Drinkability: A very moderate porter and easily drinkable.
