Pécsi Prémium Szűretlen Pils Unfiltered Pilsner, from a can. Date stamp 28.06.2026. Purchased August 2025, so I'm guessing it is fresh as can be for an import.
This was a personal favorite out of the bunch at a recent tasting. I figure it deserves a proper review. Let’s see how it does on its own.
The pour looks as expected, slightly hazy due to being unfiltered, with decent foam retention. The nose displays somewhat of an earthy hop character. The sip follows, with a hint of grassy hops along the more rustic character. Drying, mild bitter finish. Not one to wow but all around decent.

First off I need to apologize: this is a Czech pilsener not a German one. This is unfiltered and very much like the real thing, with bold Czech hops and semi-sweet fruity hoppiness. Very smooth on the back end with mild though tingling carbonation. I am surprised by this, since Pécsi Brewery never really made anything significant (perhaps the Premium Lager in the past few years), but this one is really one of the best commercial beers on the Hungarian market at the moment! We never knew how to brew a good Czech pilsener, only crap Euro adjunct lagers but this one could be your go to in Hungary apart from the myriad of craft breweries. A very pleasant surprise (as I love lezáks) - keep it up Pécsi guys!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
