L: Hazy amber color, quarter finger off-white head, thin lacing, light carbonation.

S: Malt, yeast, hops.

T: Malty, yeasty, alcohol.

F: Medium bodied, plenty of flavor but hard to drink.

O: Decent triple but I wish it was more drinkable.

a neat belgian tripel, on tap at a really radical spot in castle rock called crowfoot valley coffee. i have never seen this beer before, either on tap or in a bottle, so cool to see this on their draft board. its a somewhat darker tripel, not to say its a dark beer, but it has more of a brass look to it, less washed out wheat haze and more shine and density at the same time. tall white head with creamy lacing left behind. it smells and tastes a little less classically yeasty than others in its style category. more fruit less spice. less candy sugar, more grain heft. i get dried strawberries and some other grain, maybe buckwheat, as well as toffee sweetness and an earthen almost clay or soil property though the sugar there. interesting, but it also doesnt taste super fresh. not oxidized, but a different kind of staleness, like the yeast is not so active anymore. its not a huge turnoff, but i bet it tastes a lot different fresh. the alcohol is very well disguised, and the beer drinks smoothly. average carbonation for the style, a little more body, a little less residual sugar. good but not amazing. i hope some more of their flavors come around...

On-tap at Mugs Alehouse, Brooklyn, NY

A: The beer is slightly hazy golden yellow in color. It poured with a half finger high white head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles in the center, a collar around the edge and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of fruity yeast and pale malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste mostly follows the smell, except that the malt is a little stronger and lends slight bits of sweetness. No traces of alcohol are perceptible.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied on the palate and has a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer tastes a little heavier in body compared to other beers in the style but is quite drinkable because it masks its alcohol very well.
