I enjoyed this beer on tap at the brewery on 8/7/2012. The Kolsch was probably my favorite beer of the experience and may be one of the best in its particular beer style.

The beer was a yellow straw color with a crisp white head the occupied the upper half inch of the glass. It gave little aroma, though it was apparent that it was mildly acidic. The initial taste was lemony and light. There was even a hint of lime present. The citrus fruits did not even seem synthetic. The backbone was somewhat watery, but it makes for an easy summer drinker. The carbonation scrubbed away any sense of aftertaste quickly. Of course, this makes a drinker what to move on to the next sip.

Tried the Ly Co Ki We Kolsch whilst visitng the Shoreline Brewery. This beer was most certainly named after teh trail that winds throught eh Indiana coastline. The color was a very nive golden clear with good white head that laced ncely. The smell had hints of citrus/lemon. The taste was very tart from start to finish....the after taste was mostly grainy. The mouthfeel was hurt a little because of the tart flavor followed by a grainyness. The beer did have decent body.

I double checked the spelling of this one, that’s exactly how it is listed on the beer menu.

In the glass this Kolsch was a lightly hazed deep golden color. The head was around briefly as an off-white dense foam. The head fell to a wispy cap, but the lace remained for the duration.
The smell was rather subtle. Mainly it was spicy, musty yeast, malty sweetness with a faint grassiness.
The taste was dead on for the style, nothing over the top. Flavors followed the smell pretty well with the addition of a mild bitterness from the hops and a slightly dry finish.
The carbonation was moderate on a medium-light body giving it a crisp and clean mouthfeel. Crisp and refreshing.
I would have liked to have seen a bit more head retention and a little more for the nose, but it was still well crafted, flavorful and the drinkability was fairly good.
