Arrives in a plain pint glass, with a creamy head cascading through the beer. Upon settling, the head reveals a rich deep mahogany ale beneath. Spectacular.
Aroma is absolutely amazing. Incredible fruity maltiness. Hints of apple and pear, with perhaps a touch of grape and cherry. Discernable floral hop aroma, cascade and chinook. Big high alpha aroma.
Flavor is rich and creamy, with that thick, smooth casked mouthfeel. This is the only way to drink a pint! Big malty flavor with pronounced esters, fading into a dry hoppy finish, with that american tanginess. No bready flavors. Light toffee, particularly up front. The esters and flowery hop flavors blend perfectly. The first few sips felt like it was a little too bitter, but that feeling quickly faded as my palate grew accustomed to the beer. Truly excellent. Simple, yet elegant and interesting.
According to the menu, it was made with pale and caramunich malts, and chinook and cascade hops.
