Glad to see JHBH making an attempt at this style, which seems is becoming ever more popular. Pours a deep golden color with a thick white head. Head retention is minimal. Hops blast you in the aroma though some grapefruit is detectable as well. Flavor is not as complex as I had hoped for, but one must remember that I am comparing this to other beers of this style, and given the breweries that do this style unbelievably well (Victory, Stone). The hops are definitely present and taste wonderful, though there isn't much else going on. Surprisingly a nice malty texture comes through in the finish. That hop smack at the end isn't as prominent as it is in other beers of the style. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth...very nice.
All in all, a very good beer from JHBH, in comparison to their other beers. Not the best Imperial IPA I'll ever have, but definitely worth a try because it's still quite tasty.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
