Reddish almost burgundy hue, thin sticky lacing half way down the glass. Smells of rich Munich malt ... grape skin and toasted husk. Touch of a caramel twang in the middle. Ample hopping with a brush of herbal flavor. Finishes semi-dry with a long crispness.

Ran laps with this one on 7/10/2004 at the Cambridge location. Served in a typical 16-ounce pint glass.
Thin, initial foamy head that withered down to but a shadow of its former self. Dark to light copper brown in hue, with lightening towards the bottom of the offering where there was less volume. Crystal clear and quiet. Soapy, gentle hops at nose, but actually quite difficult to pick up much by way of a bouquet. Citrusy burst on outside of mouth, with a thin caramel interior, some hops bitterness accents in second taste, though also hard to discern. A slight smokiness is noted at end. Medium to light bodied, and thus a welcome selection on a warm summer day in the Square.

Er, if I may be so bold...this wasn't an Alt. And I'm no expert. But anyway...I got a pint of this served, medium orange amber in color, no head to speak of. It came with a faint fruity aroma. Medium mouthfeel came with small tight carbonation. Mostly all malt, there was some dark fruitiness in the finish. All I could think of was amber...I certainly didn't think Dusseldorf or even of my beloved Kraftwerk.
