Notes:
OG 15.3; BU's 40
Pale, Morris Otter, Dark Crystal and Chocolate malts; Saaz hops
14oz goblet. A near opaque black beer, with deep brilliant red hues. Beige head with plenty of sticking lace.
Inviting raspberry nose, and some sweet malty wort.
A bit light-ish in the body, with a creamy mouthfeel. Sharp flash of lime rinds that segues nicely into a tasty semi-tart raspberry flavor. An amazing amount of berry flavor, but not too overwhelming. Near tea-like, with flavors of fresh brewed iced tea. Subtle chocolate notes balance, along with a soft leafy hop character. Lingering berry and slight sweetness in the finish.
A very nice Porter twist for Valentine's Day.

On tap the John Harvards in Harvard Square.
Served in a Goblet.
This beer poured a dark brown/black body with not much head.
The nose was a faint chocolate, dark malt with a raspberry touch.
The taste. Well Robitussin cough syrup and beer is a bit too simple, so let me try and expand a bit. Dark malts, some chocolate, medium to full bodied and very smooth from start to finish. The defining taste was a big huge sweet raspberry taste that with every sip I kept thinking Robitussin cough syrup.
Thats it. It was drinkable, and I understand the whole raspberry porter/stout or whatever it is. But the raspberry was so over the top I wasnt sure if I was drinking beer or trying to cure my cold.

Got some hugs and kisses with this one on 2/12/2005. 14-oz. goblet pour at the Cambridge location.
Told it was a porter by the bartender and described as "A full-bodied dark ale with an intense raspberry aroma and flavor, balanced by mellow chocolate tones," and 6% abv on the beer menu. Gloppy froth of big initial head, extremely nice in the goblet, that dies quickly to masses on the outer edges. Blood-red/brown dark hue that is impenetrable. Very light raspberry on nose, despite its description, with a hint of hop bite and an almost negligible baker's chocolate semi-sweetness. To taste, raspberry almost overpowers but luckily the Toblerone chocolate cools things off a bit and allows the malt to finally pull through near the end. A bit reluctant at the start, this one grew on me and is pretty quaffable, though I think the raspberry could be downplayed a bit.
