Appears a dark mahogany with a light amber hue. Small head that fades quickly. Unfortunately, no lacing is left on the glass.
Smell is of rich malt with spicy undertones that aren't typical of the style. Aromas that stand out from the rich, syrupy malt are of cinnamon and ginger snaps that are completely from the malt according to brewer, John Rehm.
Taste is of the malty aroma with only a little hint of the cinnamon and ginger that seemed to jump out before.
Mouthfeel is sweet and sugary.
This one is a decent brew but the other doppelbock(which had an OG of 17 degrees Plato, whereas this was 19.5 degrees Plato) I had from this location back in July reigned supreme.
